RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited swat Tuesday and attended the earth breaking ceremony of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Bridge near Barikot.
According to ISPR press release , The bridge is being constructed by Frontier Works Organization with UAE funding as part of the Quick Impact Projects.
A United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation led by His Excellency Ali Saif Sultan Al Awani, Ambassador of UAE was also present at the occasion. COAS thanked the brotherly Country for its support to the people of Pakistan.
The COAS later visited De-radicalization and Emancipation Program (DREP) Facility being run under the auspices of Pakistan Army. The facility is helping in rehabilitation of affected youth.
COAS also interacted with locals and reiterated that Army will continue to contribute meaningfully towards the development and rehabilitation of Swat.
Earlier on arrival, COAS was received by the Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik.
